Fires

Fires have been around since the beginning of time and have caused a many great disasters.

Accidental fires were even more common in the 17th century and London was no exception. The authorities were aware of the dangers, building regulations (yes they had them even then!) were tightened and in 1664, Charles II urged London's Mayor to enforce them. However in 1666 on the 2nd of September at 02:00 hours on a Sunday morning, well we all know what happened next.

One of the main differences between then and now of course is the materials we use; in the days of the Great Fire of London horse hair and wood was much used. Nowadays it's plastics we use for everything from A4 paper to the furniture we sit on. Yes, we have vastly improved fire safety with compartmentation, alarm systems etc, but we still have fires and they cost business money, time and loss of clients, the stastics for Jan 06 - Dec 06 for incidents of over £250,000 are put at £135,724,690; that's a lot of business.

To help prevent this the Regulatory Reform Order 2005 was instigated and came into force on the 1st of October 2006. With this and the knowledge that we as Fire Safety Consultants have, we can and will ensure that your business will be as safe as it can be with regard to fire. We will work with you to ensure that all fire safety matters are relevant, appropriate and that any fire fighting equipment is to a standard this is both cost effective and compliant. Fire training is another major factor in preventing loss of business, we will instruct the members of your staff to cover all safety aspects or your company.
